Q&A with 20 Cincinnati Web Design Companies

Note: Click "expand interview" under each company to view the full Q&A

There are close to 100 web design companies in the Cincinnati area, but more impressive is the diversity of these companies. For instance, within the Greater Cincinnati area, you'll find a web design firm with a successful spin-off company, the third oldest family operated ad agency in the U.S., which also happens to include web design among its services, and a local web design company that services clients in large cities, like New York, San Francisco and Chicago, while keeping local customers front and center.

You might think all this competition makes it difficult for Cincinnati web design companies to survive, but the opposite is true. Whether intentional or not, each of the web design firms in Greater Cincinnati has carved out a niche for itself. That niche has as much to do with the type of clients they serve as to the services they offer.

So how would you pick the right company for you?

You can get to know the companies, before even reaching out to them, by reading the interviews below. Read the responses by the very people who shape the company’s professional culture.

While you do that, here are 4 questions you might want to ask yourself while going through the page.

  • A Portfolio of Work for Previous Clients: Do you like the work they have done?
  • Front-end VS Back-end Web Design Services: Are they capable of doing both or working with the right people to deliver the product?
  • Go Local: Can you afford to work with time differences or even language barriers?
  • Cost Comparisons: How big is your project and is the amount you are spending justifiable?

Happy Collaborating !!

Note: These are listed in order of when we received a response to our questions. The order should not be used to infer quality, rank, etc.

INTERVIEW WITH

Founder

Are you a local company or part of a corporation/franchise with locations in other parts of the country? We are a locally owned Cincinnati-based company.

When was the company founded? August 2, 2012

Were you always a web design company or did you start your business doing something else? My previous company was a full-service agency offering traditional branding and graphic design services. Version2 was created to be a pure-web agency; to create websites and to develop web-based tools for small businesses. We actually partner with a number of graphic design studios to extend their services to the web.

What services do you offer? Consulting, website design, full-stack web development, web hosting, SEO, video, data visualization, and we also act as a technical advisor to whatever issues and needs our clients may have.

Do you focus on a certain niche or industry more so than others? We have a history of working with B2B clients but our client base is very diverse including healthcare, government agencies, artists, and musicians.

What are your major strengths? Experience and a problem-solving mindset. We always think about the next step. How will this need to adapt in the future? How will this feature be maintained? What will a site visitor want to do next? How can we explain this more clearly? We become invested in our clients’ goals.

Is all work done in-house, with independent contractors, or both? All web work is done in-house. We partner with photographers, designers, videographers etc. to do work that is not part of our core skill set.

How many websites do you typically build each month? It varies quite a bit depending on the size of the projects. 0-5.

What type of clients do you primarily service? Corporations, small businesses, non-profits, mom-and-pop businesses and individuals.

How do you differentiate yourself from the competition? By being friendly and honest. We don’t use tech jargon; we speak as plainly as possible. We give our clients options and don’t try to upsell them or force them into a platform that doesn’t suit them. I had a client for 15 years that didn’t have an email address.

What is your philosophy towards web design and development? Simplicity and reliability. Today (in 2021) many agencies push WordPress. WordPress is cheap, powerful, and simple to design. But WP is a disaster waiting to happen. It’s a massive headache for clients to maintain and inherently unstable. We make sure the sites we build are lean, stable, high-performing, and easy for our clients (and ourselves) to live with.

What do you attribute to your company's success over these years? We aren’t complacent. Web technology keeps changing. We continually reexamine and improve our approach. Clients choose us because we aren’t set in our ways. That’s the reason behind the name Version2. Everyday is a chance to create version2 of where you are now.

So there you have it. A listing of the top Cincinnati web design companies that provides a little more insight into the vast expertise offered by these firms. You'll find the owners very accessible and welcoming in answering your questions about your website, digital marketing and other online needs.

As these business profiles demonstrate, when it comes to the Web, the Cincinnati metropolitan area is the place to find professionals who develop sophisticated Web tools, keep up on all the latest developments, and have the innovative thought process to apply creative techniques that will give your business a unique online presence to meet your goals.

What do you attribute to your company's success over these years? Since we founded this company, the industry has constantly changed. The tools and platforms we use are always evolving, but our basic business model stays the same: execute the best strategy that will give the client lasting results. It's all about return on investment.

Are you a local company or part of a corporation/franchise with locations in other parts of the country? Local company.

When was the company founded? 2008.

Were you always a web design company or did you start your business doing something else? Started as a Web company.

What services do you offer? Web design, web development, web marketing, hosting, SEO, for a full list, check our website.

Do you focus on a certain niche or industry more so than others? We don't try and focus on any niche, but we have a lot of clients in the healthcare industry and industrial automation type industries.

What are your major strengths? Web development and SEO.

Is all work done in-house, with independent contractors, or both? In-house.

How many websites do you typically build each month? One new, but we try to stick with reoccurring business with current clients, we usually have around 50 current clients that we maintain on any given month. We do not like to take on too much new work at a time, because we do not want our quality of work to slack for our existing clients.

What type of clients do you primarily service? Usually focus on small to medium size businesses that have a decent size budget that do not want to hire a full-time Web employee.

How do you differentiate yourself from the competition? We try and maintain personal relationships with each client. They have our personal cell phone numbers where they can reach us anytime day or night. We have at least one of the owners at every initial and ongoing meeting and one always heading each project to make sure we approve of the quality of work.

What is your philosophy towards web design and development? One of our main goals we have with each client is to grow their business, so that we too grow with them. It is a win-win and we do not make any client sign a contract. So if our work doesn't meet their expectation, they can leave at any time. With this philosophy, we have only lost two existing clients due to them finding free hosting through another provider or relative in the 6+ years we have been in business.

What do you attribute to your company's success over these years? Our quick response time and our efficiency with the quality of work that we do for each client.

Co-Founder and CEO

Are you a local company or part of a corporation/franchise with locations in other parts of the country? Local. An Ohio S-Corporation based and owned in Cincinnati.

When was the company founded? 1995.

Were you always a web design company or did you start your business doing something else? We began as a part-time Web business in 1994 when local dial-up access first became available. By the summer of 1995, we were full-time in web development, with early adopter customers including WEBN, WCKY, WKRC, The Playhouse, Visitors Bureau and several physicians, attorneys and regional industrial businesses.

What services do you offer? Custom Web and app design, development, hosting, content marketing, SEO, education and site support.

Do you focus on a certain niche or industry more so than others? I spent much of my early professional career at GE Aviation, so industrial and manufacturing customers were a fit for our programming and market experience from the start. That continues to be the trend for most of our large project development.

What are your major strengths? A) Partnership: That's a much abused word in the world, but it's at the core of our best work. Many of our customers have worked with us for 15 years or more. They depend on us to keep up with online evolution, support them in their adoption of new technology, take the mystery out of Web work as much as we can, and answer the phone when they need us. B) Content management: We're experts in planning, from the start, how a customer will be able to manage the content and messages in every piece of programming we create. Because we developed content management tools before such programs were common, an area of specialization for us is easily mastered content tools tailored for a project, and integral editors for managing large, multiple sites from a single sign-in.

Is all work done in-house, with independent contractors, or both? We do all work with in-house staff, except when we have a temporary capacity crunch for design. Then we work with one of several local designers to fill specific needs. We also work with larger agencies who have an existing design or project that needs content management, interactivity, or other specialty programming. We also provide and control the hosting for every project we develop, on Amazon servers we've built, managed and supported since Amazon's cloud services first became available.

How many websites do you typically build each month? Many of our projects run for several months, and others are follow-on and redevelopment projects for long-time customers, so a monthly count is hard to make. Over a typical year, though, we'll work on 30 to 40 projects, 5-8 of which will be large corporate projects, 10-15 small to medium local businesses and the rest custom projects for existing customers.

What type of clients do you primarily service? We've been developing sites and tools since the 90s, so there are hundreds of small and local customers on our books, and dozens of national and international contacts. As web and social connections have evolved, though, we find much of our new work is trending towards corporate and manufacturing customers in need of our large site experience to support and extend their own online evolution.

How do you differentiate yourself from the competition? We focus on long-term relationships and constancy in an environment defined more by constant change than by any other factor. For almost 20 years, our focus has been on empowering customers to manage their own online experience within that changing world, whether for Web, app, social media or other platform. Therefore, although we are able to provide services on demand for everything from media production to email marketing, SEO, web maintenance and e-commerce, we've really developed more as an end-to-end agency. By end-to-end agency, I mean we provide most of our services in continuity for customers, so that they can focus on their business and on becoming proficient within the range of tools they need for succeeding online, whether Web, content marketing, or social media community connections. Some agencies specialize in just one service among the many that make up online marketing experience today, and that's a good and valuable strategy. We are the specialty vendor for some customers. For most of our customers, our specialty is ease and consistency in content management, and we find that customers who can easily manage their sites and other content also do better in SEO and lead generation.

What is your philosophy towards web design and development? Three thoughts: A) Simple is better than busy and clarity is better than cleverness. Your integrity and authority will come through over the general online noise (and get you ranked in Google) if you can tell your story with authenticity, focus and depth. B) Invitation is better than persuasion. The connected world is about making contact. Ask for contact and make that contact meaningful. C) Self-sufficiency is better than second-hand storytelling. Depending on a third party to post your content online limits real time communication and changes the quality of your authentic voice. Be able to tell your own story, post your own pictures and express yourself online.

What do you attribute to your company's success over these years? In a world of increasing speed and constant change, a quality, trusted partnership is beneficial to all parties. We've grown and remained stable through long relationships with our customers and they've depended on us for that stability and for the continuous improvement of our talents in web trends, techniques, security and service.

President

Are you a local company or part of a corporation/franchise with locations in other parts of the country? We are a local company proudly headquartered in Newport, KY.

When was the company founded? Intrinzic was founded in 1999 by Wendy Vonderhaar.

Were you always a web design company or did you start your business doing something else? Not only did we start out doing design and branding, but we continue to be an integrated firm. Web design is a critical part of our company, but our focus is on branding and how design can bring the strategy of brand culture to life. Websites are always one of the primary applications of brand, it is often the gateway to the brand experience.

What services do you offer? We consider our digital offerings full service – strategy, user experience, information architecture, design, content creation, front-end and back-end programing, as well as SEO/SEM and social media.

Do you focus on a certain niche or industry more so than others? We certainly have a few industry verticals where we have deep experience and expertise (industrial, healthcare, education and financial), but our brand centric approach to web design allows us to apply our sophisticated, strategic approach to many different types of companies across a wide variety of industries/categories. The attributes of a good client fit for Intrinzic are directly tied to the potential partners' motivations and aspirations. We seek progressive companies with one critical trait – they strive to inspire their customers and employees. They share the vision that design, beauty and inspiration can be powerful tools in the marketplace.

What are your major strengths? Two things separate us from other web design companies. First is a brand centric approach to developing any communications. We take a disciplined approach to understanding the brand and how it should be expressed before we start to apply the technology. The brand first strategy ensures the website is working in conjunction with all other customer touchpoints to consistently communicate the core differences of a company. Second of all, our craftsman approach to problem solving ensures an end product that is not only beautiful, but meticulous in every detail. The web "tools" that we create not only do their job well, they are perfected expressions of the company's brand and culture.

Is all work done in-house, with independent contractors, or both? In the world of marketing, and in particular web design, we do not believe that one size/one approach fits all. So we employ a custom made team approach. Although we keep core strategic and content creation services in house – including architecture and user experience, we also partner with best-in-class companies to help us realize the creative and technological vision of every digital engagement. This includes platform specific experts, and channel specific experts. The team has to reflect the project's needs and not be limited by the resources of any one company.

How many people do you have employed in-house? We do not separate digital work from the other work in the agency, so our full team of 20 professionals can be brought to bear on any client communication challenge. Plus, we have a deep bench of partners that we access for their expertise, allowing us access to over 50 digital marketing resources.

How many websites do you typically build each month? We consistently have web design work in-house. There is never a week or month where we are not touching multiple websites/digital properties.

What type of clients do you primarily service? Our client list is broad and diverse. From Fortune 500 companies to regional leaders to local artisans and all points in-between.

How do you differentiate yourself from the competition? We believe that "how" a company does what they do is more important than "what" they do. Our central organizing principle, our "how," is personified in the concept of craftsmanship. This is our problem-solving framework that guides us to model, hone, perfect and obsess over developing the right answers to our clients' challenges. It informs our thought process and comes to life in our work that is crafted to hit the right notes functionally, rationally and, most importantly, emotionally. Everyone can feel craftsmanship and this emotional reaction creates a positive association with the brand.

What is your philosophy towards web design and development? A website is a tool that has to be designed with a specific purpose or purposes in mind. They are tools that should deliver on the business and marketing strategies of a company. We focus on the purpose, the user experience, and the users brand takeaway. The human factors are the lead and the technology is the facilitator/catalyst to ensure we deliver on these human center wants/needs.

What do you attribute to your company's success over these years? The craftsman's ethic that drives a level of inspiration, passion and attention to detail that are not commonplace in today's environment. It does not just inform what we do, but it is who we are.

When was the company founded? In September of 2008.

Were you always a web design company or did you start your business doing something else? We've always been a web design company, but have also always offered other services including eCommerce-specific marketing, email marketing, brand identity development, and any/all types of print design.

What services do you offer? We are a full-service agency, offering everything for companies from the ground up. This includes building a brand identity or rebranding a current identity, providing all required graphics needed by the client, including all print-based materials (i.e., business cards, letterhead, envelopes, folders, flyers and full product catalogs, including photography), as well as standard informational based websites for small, and medium size businesses, as well as eCommerce or custom Web-application development, SaaS development (Software as a Service), and even mobile application design/development and responsive websites. We also offer search engine optimization and social network marketing for after we've completed building those products/services.

Do you focus on a certain niche or industry more so than others? Digital strategy and web development, but often are asked to handle all other aspects due to our high-standards and quality of work.

What are your major strengths? Our standards, our efficiency when it comes to completing projects with time to spare and within budgets, and especially our customer satisfaction rating (100% since the company was founded).

Is all work done in-house, with independent contractors, or both? All of our work is done in-house.

How many websites do you typically build each month? There are approximately anywhere from 4 – 8 websites we're working on within a given month.

What type of clients do you primarily service? All types of clients, from the local small business or start-up to enterprise-level corporate clients.

How do you differentiate yourself from the competition? I believe that would be our customer satisfaction rating. As my boss likes to say, "We're batting a thousand and we are not willing to let that number slip."

What is your philosophy towards web design and development? This is a VERY broad question and somewhat sensitive. I don't think I can really answer this question accurately.

What do you attribute to your company's success over these years? Our very high standards, as well as our customer satisfaction rating. All of our business from when we were founded has been via word-of-mouth, which we believe attests the quality of our work.

Are you a local company or part of a corporation/franchise with locations in other parts of the country? We are local and a decidedly small footprint company.

When was the company founded? Atlas Design + Technology was founded in 1997.

Were you always a web design company or did you start your business doing something else? We started primarily in web design and quickly migrated into web development and web-based applications programming. We continue to serve our existing client base, and continue to work closely with collaborative strategic partner projects. Although we occasionally take on new work, we have made a shift to evolve into other areas of business. Actually, one major facet of our daily business is a separate company we launched in 2007 called SubscriptionDNA.com. This is an absolutely fantastic PCI Compliant SaaS subscription billing and membership management platform. It works great for typical bricks/mortar membership billing scenarios out of the box, but where it really shines is for companies who need a paywall and want to offer premium content or services. This is a cloud based software, nothing for the client to install, and we provide hands-on help integrating to make it a turnkey approach. For more in depth integration, we have a full API that can be utilized however needed. It truly can be the cornerstone to building a successful SaaS or membership business. Combined with extensive automated recurring billing, reporting, and member signup and authentication tools, SubscriptionDNA handles every aspect of their subscription management.

What services do you offer? We offer site design, development, web software and custom tools, and ongoing website maintenance. We also offer redundant web hosting to our clientele.

Do you focus on a certain niche or industry more so than others? We have been blessed with low overhead, many referrals, recurring business, and have simply not had to deal that much with sales and marketing to date. However, with our SubscriptionDNA.com software, we are starting to consider putting our best foot forward and add to our team to help take our subscription software to the next level.

What are your major strengths? Our major strengths are reliability, speed and quality. Our turnaround time is generally extremely fast, and we have fantastic, easy-going relationships with the customers we service.

Is all work done in-house, with independent contractors, or both? It is a combination, however, I have a small and dedicated core team that I have worked with for years.

How many people do you have employed in-house? Believe it or not, it's just myself at my location. My team can work from their location and I'm fully comfortable with that. I've been asked by some when they learn that it's that small but see the impressive list of clients we've worked with and continue to work with, how in the world can you do it?! I just do… and although some may be turned off by the notion they may not get the attention they need, many realize that I must be doing something right to be in business since 1997. They are looking to experience that same level of satisfaction and long-term collaboration.

How many websites do you typically build each month? We're not a factory and build new sites all day. With the number of clients sites we host and help maintain, there is plenty of updates that come in and I would gauge we typically touch about 7-10 different sites each day. That would be in addition to any new, current, or ongoing development projects, and the support of our SubscriptionDNA billing software. We're always busy, but it's a good busy. I admit, sometimes it can get a little overwhelming, but clients generally understand reasonable and unreasonable turnarounds.

What type of clients do you primarily service? We service both small companies to commerce sites and numerous high profile sites with a large presence.

How do you differentiate yourself from the competition? We've worked on so many projects in so many capacities and that has ultimately given us great perspective. We're small, but extremely experienced.

What is your philosophy towards web design and development? I have great respect for other local companies in this field, both small and large. There seems to be a new school of self-proclaimed web developers that think that knowing how to install WordPress qualifies them the title. We've used WordPress too, but it really is just a small facet in the world of web development. You need to be very well-rounded, knowing both GUI tools and code troubleshooting, as well as be able to conceptualize solutions and traverse through a variety of paths to find the best approach for the client's short- and long-term goals.

What do you attribute to your company's success over these years? Dependability would probably be first. Clients don't want a headache, they want a reliable, trustworthy partner that provides quality work. That's it.

Are you a local company or part of a corporation/franchise with locations in other parts of the country? Ideas and Pixels is a web marketing agency based out of Cincinnati, Ohio; a company with local roots, but nationwide goals and clients.

When was the company founded? We have been crafting websites since 1997. Ideas and Pixels LLC was founded in 2011.

Are you a local company or part of a corporation/franchise with locations in other parts of the country? Ideas and Pixels is a web marketing agency based out of Cincinnati, Ohio; a company with local roots, but nationwide goals and clients. We even provide a few nationwide design firms our "Ghost Development" services.

Were you always a web design company or did you start your business doing something else? We're a web marketing agency, although we are better known for creating and executing high quality websites. When we first started the company, we made the mistake of telling people that we did web design. Without a doubt, the best decision that we ever made was to start calling ourselves a web marketing agency. I think it's because people consider marketing an actionable or proactive endeavor; while getting a website may sound passive and static. We have a lot more to offer companies than just building them a great website and our extensive case studies reaffirm this.

What services do you offer? Besides pushing pixels to the web, we build complex marketing plans that work internally with the websites we build. Increasing a company's ROI with online conversions is our main goal and this is what sets us apart from the crowd! First, we will target the local market using keyword research to determine search terms with medium to low competition in order to achieve relevancy in the given field for AdWords and AB testing. After we achieve this, we will take the results and refine them to slowly encompass other regions, until we achieve relevancy nationwide that we can gauge and build upon. Other objectives include: increasing customer participation through social media, capturing all searches relating to a given field on the local level through "Place" accounts with Google, Bing and Yahoo! through use of our Get Me Listed package, and distribution of cohesive content to content aggregators, thus encouraging potential customers to visit the website. Furthermore, an iconic web presence needs to have cohesion throughout every media outlet. Ideas and Pixels has the ability to offer top notch videography, 3D development, photography and brand development to boost a client's brand awareness.

Do you focus on a certain niche or industry more so than others? With our marketing background, we never had to narrow down who or what we can design for. Extensive research allows us to design for almost any target market.

What are your major strengths? The ability to design websites that clearly demonstrate clients' available products and their inherent capabilities; a summary of the company, its goals, methods and history; and the ability to contact the company to inquire about purchasing, or for general, miscellaneous contact with our research.

Is all work done in-house, with independent contractors, or both? All of our work is done in-house!

How many people do you have employed in-house? Ideas and Pixels only has three full-time employees and a few interns. We actually love being a small company because this makes our work more personal!

How many websites do you typically build each month? Our notion is to always generate the absolute best work possible. We do not take on more work than we can handle and typically only build five websites a month.

What type of clients do you primarily service? Even though we are not limited to certain niche markets, our typical clientele are large corporations. Lately, they have been specializing in mechanical and eCommerce wholesale.

How do you differentiate yourself from the competition? We differentiate Ideas and Pixels from our competition with our work ethic and quality designs. Our company does not offer quick flips on websites just to hop on to the next build. This is how you lose quality and it is not a business model we want to follow. The foundation of our company is to have a long-standing relationship with all of our clients and inform them when they can improve their online rank. If you need help, we will do everything in our power to get your website where it needs to be!

What is your philosophy towards web design and development? Evolve and never stop learning. Once you stop learning, new technology will surpass what you are capable of.

What do you attribute to your company's success over these years? Allen, my business partner, could not have said it better, "I once watched a documentary about a company whose CEO made roughly the same amount as even the lowest paid worker, effectively allowing everyone at the company to have decent, stable pay. Everyone who worked at the company held private stock in it, and consequently, everyone cared deeply about how it performed. I would like our company to follow a similar model, and inspire other companies to consider doing it as well." This is our current business model and it shows, because we have no marketing for Ideas and Pixels – all of our current clientele are from previous word of mouth referrals!

Partner and Creative Director

Are you a local company or part of a corporation/franchise with locations in other parts of the country? Local.

When was the company founded? 1992.

Were you always a web design company or did you start your business doing something else? We started as an ad agency, run by creatives, embracing what we loved about the creative possibilities for bringing brands to life. As technology evolved, we adapted (we added a web team when the Internet became visually friendly in the mid-90s). But basically, we are still building brands and framing communication in delightfully compelling ways – now we use traditional, interactive and social to make simple connections in this complex world.

What services do you offer? Strategy – Research, Sweet Spot Analysis, Consumer Profiles, Marketing Strategy, Brand Leadership. Advertising – Corporate/Brand Identity, Broadcast, Print, Promotions/Collateral, Outdoor, In-Store, Events/Trade Show, Guerrilla. Development – Site Design & Development, SEO, Online Marketing, Email Marketing, eCommerce, Intranet & Extranet Solutions. Social Media – Strategy, Execution, Marketing Intelligence.

Do you focus on a certain niche or industry more so than others? We have a variety of clients from diverse fields, and we like it that way. Bold, clear communication is our niche. Once we learn the desires of the intended audience and the language of the brand, creating the right communication becomes second nature.

What are your major strengths? Our creative is strong and we approach it from a strategic foundation. We call this building brands from the inside out. We help our clients develop Brand Mastery – shoring up the brand message from every consumer touchpoint so that their brand message is holistic and rings true to the consumer. Then we engage in Brand Connection – finding the media and the voice to bring the brand to new potential customers.

Is all work done in-house, with independent contractors, or both? We have a very strong inside staff of strategists, account executives, designers, Web developers, content developers, art directors and writers and can quickly expand through excellent relationships with outside creative partners.

How many websites do you typically build each month? 2-3 depending on demand.

What type of clients do you primarily service? We have completed successful projects for clients from Yagööt and ProKids to Procter & Gamble and Hillenbrand, as well as e-commerce solutions for companies like Clink and i-wireless.

How do you differentiate yourself from the competition? We partner with our clients – we do not simply fill orders, nor do we dictate to our clients. We have open communication at all levels of our company and focus on doing the right thing for the right reasons.

What is your philosophy towards web design and development? Every site has certain objectives to accomplish. The site design should be as simple as possible to yield a great experience for core targets. Advertising creative (visual and headline) is used to enhance the experience. Search engine optimization is another consideration, but we approach this carefully and creatively as to not undermine the user experience.

What do you attribute to your company's success over these years? We have been successful by understanding the principles of solid marketing communication and applying these consistently to the changing digital marketplace – attracting and building consumer advocates for our brands. Simple connections in a complex world.

Owner

Are you a local company or part of a corporation/franchise with locations in other parts of the country? I'm a local company.

When was the company founded? 2011.

Were you always a web design company or did you start your business doing something else? I've always been a digital advertising/web design company. We try to get people to think of us as more of a digital consultancy because anyone can build a website, but not many people can strategize on the right way to do it for the business and create a tool that produces ROI as opposed to just a brochure. We also still do a lot of branding work and print for people, but digital is at the core of every marketing strategy.

What services do you offer? Web strategy, design, development and marketing; Identity design and brand strategy; Startup consulting.

Do you focus on a certain niche or industry more so than others? I work primarily with agencies who use us as a way to supplement their own creative departments and development teams. We also love to work with startup companies and help them by leveraging our experience with our own startup success. Personally, I helped to found dotloop, a software company started five years ago which now has around 150 employees and four locations around the country.

What are your major strengths? Digital strategy is a major differentiator and strength. We learn who your customer is, what they expect and deliver that on your website.

Is all work done in-house, with independent contractors, or both? We use a mix of local, West Coast and offshore developers so our operations run 24 hours a day. This helps us deliver faster than most agencies.

How many people do you have employed in-house? Our agency is virtual, so not many in-house team members are needed. We run lean with myself, an operations manager and a project manager. There are also other business owners that complement our services that share office space with us. We have a video marketing specialist, pgh developer, copywriter, search expert, pr expert and marketing experts in-house who run their own companies but are available to Reversed Out as subcontractors. This allows us to bring in the right people when we need them, at the same time not having to pay for full-time employees. These people are actually paying us to share space.

How many websites do you typically build each month? At any one time we are building approximately 10 websites.

What type of clients do you primarily service? We work mostly with ad agencies around town. We are a wholesale vendor for them, but often do websites and branding work for other small business owners who are referred to us though our network.

How do you differentiate yourself from the competition? As more of a strategy company and full-service agency, not just a website builder.

What is your philosophy towards web design and development? Don't just build a website, build a tool for your business.

What do you attribute to your company's success over these years? Delivering on-time and being honest and fair.

How do you differentiate yourself from the competition? Ease of communications and reliability. We pride ourselves on being able to talk to our customers like real people, understand their business and what their goal is for the project.

What is your philosophy towards web design and development? Simplicity and minimalism serve the client and their customers best.
