QR codes are everywhere—from restaurant menus and event check-ins to packaging and business cards. But most online QR code generators either limit how much you can use them or bait you into signing up, only to charge later to keep your codes active. We’ve compiled a list of generators you can actually use for free—with no signup required and no scan or expiration limits on static QR codes.

Some even offer free dynamic QR codes, though that’s rare. Below is the list, with a focus on truly free, browser-based tools. We’ve also highlighted which support static (direct, permanent) vs. dynamic (editable, trackable) codes.

1. Airpath QR Code Generator – Truly Free Forever

Airpath is the QR code generator we created here at UFO and offers unlimited static QR codes with no signup and no cost—forever. You can create as many codes as you like. It’s simple, fast, and actually free—no paywalls, no usage limits, no gotchas.

2. QRCode Monkey – Unlimited Static QR Codes, No Expiration

QRCode Monkey lets you generate highly customizable static QR codes without creating an account. Add colors, shapes, and even logos. All generated codes are free to use permanently and offer unlimited scans.

3. QRStuff – No Account Needed, 20+ Data Types

QRStuff supports over 20 data types including URLs, text, vCards, Wi-Fi logins, and more. It requires no login to create static QR codes and lets you export in multiple formats like PNG, SVG, and PDF.

4. QR TIGER – Unlimited Static, Limited Free Dynamic

QR TIGER allows you to generate unlimited static QR codes without registering. If you do sign up, you can create up to 3 dynamic codes for free. Static codes never expire and can be customized with logos and colors.

5. GoQR.me – Simple and Fast, No Sign-Up Required

GoQR.me is perfect for generating quick, static QR codes for text, URLs, phone numbers, or contact info. No account is needed, and downloads are available in PNG, JPG, SVG, and EPS.

8. Flowcode – Visually Custom QR Codes, Static Free

Flowcode emphasizes branded and visually rich QR codes. You can create and download static QR codes for free without creating an account, though dynamic tracking features require a subscription.

9. ME-QR – Unlimited Codes (Dynamic with Ads)

ME-QR allows unlimited static QR codes without signing up. If you register, you can also generate dynamic QR codes for free, though those will show ME-QR branding or ads unless you pay.

10. QR Creator – Completely Free, Even Dynamic (With a Quirk)

QR Creator offers both static and dynamic QR codes for free with no signup. However, dynamic codes redirect through a short URL that may display a brief branded landing page or ad before forwarding.

11. The QR Code Generator (Egoditor) – Free Static & 2 Dynamic Codes

You can create static QR codes with no account. With a free account, Egoditor also gives you 2 dynamic QR codes that won’t expire. Additional dynamic codes or tracking require a paid plan.

12. Genie QR Code Generator – Unlimited QR Codes, 100% Free

Genie QR lets you create unlimited static QR codes without an account. It supports multiple data types and even lets you add logos and change colors. No dynamic codes, but it’s genuinely free.

13. GuestCam QR Code Generator – Unlimited URL QR Codes

GuestCam’s tool is simple but effective. You can create static URL QR codes without registering, and it includes color customization. It’s completely free and doesn’t expire.

14. DuckDuckGo – Instant QR Codes via Search

Type qr yourtext into DuckDuckGo’s search bar (e.g. qr https://example.com) and it will instantly generate a QR code for that input. No features or customization, but it’s fast and frictionless.

15. Chrome’s Built-In QR Generator – Share URLs Natively

If you use Chrome, you can right-click the address bar or use the share icon to instantly generate a QR code for the page you’re viewing. No tools, no installs—just click and go.

Final Thoughts

For static QR codes, almost all the options above work well and are genuinely free with no signup required. But when it comes to dynamic QR codes, almost every tool imposes scan limits, branding, or eventual charges—except Airpath.

If you need static codes for menus, product packaging, contact cards, or print materials, any of these tools will work. But if you need editable or trackable QR codes that don’t expire or incur surprise fees later, Airpath is your only truly free forever option.
